Happy 2006!

Current mood: cheerful Category: Life

Well, it's been a whirlwind of going to holiday parties, trying to get work done b/c it's basically skelton crew @ my job but I liked working b/c there's basically no one there & most people were in a good, relaxed mood - I wish everyday at work was like that this year...here's hoping it'll be like that most days of the week for 2006

Anyway, my Christmas vacation & NYE were all pretty mellow & down home...spent a lot of time with the familia & ate my good share of homecooked appetizers & entrees :) Like everyone else in America, I am now thinking of joining a gym ...egads! ...wish me luck & I hope they don't try to make me pay an arm & leg if I choose one, though, I think I may check out the YMCA at the Embarcadero...a friend of mine told me they have a good hip hop dance class there...hey, it's not like I'm going to bust out with anything new on the dancefloor since I basically do the same dance everytime...baha...but I may learn something & surprise everyone ...

So, yes, I got to go backstage this past weekend @ the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium w/ my best friend & some of her Production co-workers - I literally got to see & experience the "magic" of all the hard work that goes into getting a big event go on in a venue like that...scrambling all over the place but at the same time - a very well oiled machine, like I was talking to her boss like 5 minutes before the midnight countdown & he's like, 2 minutes before, "the duck comes down from the ceiling" (which is actually a swan) & then the "goat guy does his Cirque Du Soleil" thing (which after I see him do his thing on the trapeze type of swing, I start doing total recall in my head & remember background info. popping up as a sort of brain bubble hovering over my head which would of read, "Yes, that's from my Greek Mythology readings from English Lit. 101 that he's actually, "Pan" the spritely centaur sort of thing that plays the pan flute.. & brings on fun & music, right?), then man made snow drifts down (which I thought was the neatest part - cool to see snow drifting down above your head & sticking on other people's heads...ha!), along with the giant disco ball eminating all the reflecting lights PLUS fire blazing on both sides of the huge stage...goodness, it was crazy, fun, bizarre way to bring in the new year, what with the hippies, old fangled & new fangled dancing all around me but you know, it was a blast and I can say I did something different this time around :) I got to catch John Mayer, who is one of my faves, though I think he really wants to be taken seriously as a bluesman by the way he comes in with his shoulder length wavy hair & just this huge scarf double up around his neck & then I also saw Joan Osbourne (remember that song, "What If God Was One of Us?") & Ryan Adams - who was pretty darn good "gee-tawr" player, if I can say it in the Southern colloquial style ...

Anyway, all I wish is that I continue with as much health, happiness & peace...basically, joy & experience that comes on my own terms & always helps me grow more as a person & of course, I wish that for all my friends & family, too...

Happy New Year, anyone out there who just happens to read this...much prosperity & joy to you in the coming new year...
Cheers!
